Two people from Metairie are facing charges of trying to hire a hitman to kill the mother of the man’s daughter.
On Thursday, Vasquez name was added to the charging document, accused of trying to help Merwin Gamez-Montoya.
According to the Times-Picayune/New Orleans Advocate, Vasquez is a close friend of Montoya’s new girlfriend.
Vasquez reportedly acted as a translator between Gamez-Montoya, who speaks Spanish, and the Metairie man they tried to hire to perform the murder.
Vasquez, through her job at local phone store, also provided a phone the two men used to communicate about the job.
Gamez-Montoya reportedly paid the 50-year-old man an undetermined amount of money to kill the former lover and mother of his daughter.
Vasquez is alleged to have involved herself deeper in the crime by calling the intended victim and posing as a school administrator to confirm her address in Tennessee.
The intended hitman never went through with the job and instead contacted Jefferson Parish Sheriffs in November 2019.
He was never charged with a crime and had spent the money he was paid by the time he notified authorities.
Vasquez will be arraigned November 17.
Both Gamez-Montoya and Vasquez are being held on $100,000 bond each.
