You may know Donald "Chick" Foret from his long run as a Broadcast Legal Analyst on WWLTV, that career path led to him eventually becoming a Judge in the 24th Judicial District Court in Gretna taking the bench in 2021.
However, he makes headlines today of a slightly different color, maybe a bit off color.
“Piece of *** “and “Go *** yourself”, just some of the alleged language used in open court by Judge Foret when he finds himself displeased by counsel.
The Louisiana Judiciary Commission charges that Foret's comments have been in several cases crude and, at least in one case, “gave an appearance that he was advocating for one side despite his obligation to act as a neutral arbiter”, per language taken from Judiciary Commission findings.
Foret says he didn't recall dropping "F" and "S" bombs. In his response to the allegations he says if he did use "some rough language, this would have been limited to an off the record discussion after the conclusion of scheduled hearings".
The Judge also explained he can seem "old school", however he maintains he has worked hard in the 24th District though he may have "ruffled some feathers."
The Judiciary Commission has power to recommend disciplinary action for judges to the Louisiana Supreme court. A two-day hearing is set for March 2024.
