Kenner police investigate an armed robbery, which left a store clerk dead.

It happened at about 2:10 a.m. Monday morning at a Shell gas station in the 3500 Williams Boulevard.

Kenner police later identified the store clerk as 30-year-old Abd Del Ghader Sylla. He was shot in the torso and taken to a hospital where he later died according to police.

According to an initial police report, “Two suspects enter the Shell Gas Station convenience store located at 3501 Williams Boulevard. Both suspects enter the store; look around as if looking to buy something. Suspect one, wearing a white knit cap and black face mask, approached the store clerk who was standing behind the counter, produced a handgun and demanded the money.”

Investigators say store surveillance cameras show after the store clerk complied and handed the money over to the first suspect, “The suspect with the handgun then walked behind the counter and executed the clerk for no reason,” said Kenner Police spokesperson Lt. Michael Cunningham. “The clerk complied with everything he told him. He gave them the money there was no provocation. He just walked behind the counter and shot him for no reason.

“This was a brutal and senseless murder and we would like to get these guys off the streets, “ said Cunningham.
