The first parade of 2021 will roll in Harahan this Sunday. The Krewe of Kings is the first Mardi Gras-style parade to roll since 2020.
Harahan city leaders announced the 20 float parade complete with marching bands will roll Sunday, May 30 at 1:00 p.m.
The parade will start at the intersection of Hord Street and Jefferson Highway and proceed west down Jefferson Highway on the north side to Kendall Street. Once at Kendall the parade will u-turn onto the south side of Jefferson Highway and proceed east on the Highway to Colonial Boulevard. At Colonial, the parade will return to the north side of Jefferson Highway and proceed east until it reaches the end of the route at Hord Street.
“The people of Harahan and our businesses are extremely excited to host the Krewe of Kings parade and look forward to enjoying a piece of Mardi Gras that was lost to the pandemic,” said Harahan Mayor Tim Baudier. “The weather forecast is for bright sunshine and cooler weather. Please bring your family out and celebrate the Krewe of Kings with us.”
Louisiana’s Lieutenant Governor, Billy Nungesser will preside as the Grand Marshall of the parade.
