Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry has created another task force focused on New Orleans.

This one will specifically handle the Sewerage and Water Board.

"Those who live in New Orleans are far too familiar with the frequent failures of the Sewerage and Water Board," Landry said in a released statement. "Widespread flooding and drinking water violations have become second nature to folks in Orleans Parish."

Landry called the current operation of the Sewerage and Water Board unacceptable.

The 14-member task force will review the billing process, governing structure, and management and organizational structure of SWBNO, and will consider opportunities to create a different governing structure.

The Sewerage and Water Board released a statement Tuesday on the governor's executive order.

"The Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans (SWBNO) welcomes the attention to our utility and our city’s critical needs. We understand the importance of restoring public trust and are encouraged by the alignment of our priorities with that of the Governor’s New Orleans Transition Council," it said. "We appreciate the opportunity to delve into our major initiatives, discuss challenges, and identify areas for collaboration with our local, state, and federal partners."
