Gun violence has again reared its ugly head in the French Quarter as a man was shot and later died near the intersection of North Peters and Iberville Streets.
The violence took place around 10:30 Friday night when two cars got into a collision.
NOPD reports the driver of one of the vehicles was shot multiple times by the assailant. It is not known if the assailant was connected to the collision incident.
Eighth District officers responded to the scene and found the victim suffering with a gunshot wound to his body.
The man was transported to a local hospital where he later died.
Detectives worked the scene for clues and witnesses.
