Louisiana’s Department of Education is preparing high school students for a post-pandemic future with their Fast Forward program.
Louisiana Superintendent of Education Cade Brumley says the school system’s ‘Fast Forward’ program is a great way for Junior and Senior students to earn an Associate’s Degree while still earning their high school diploma.
“There are also opportunities for apprenticeship and credentials and it is just a great way to rethink Junior and Senior year to prepare kids for the next step,” said Brumley.
Brumley says all hope of returning to some sense of a normal school year depends on educators receiving the COVID vaccine.
The vaccine is going to help a lot,” Brumley says. “I don’t think we are going to see a normal year through this spring.”
He says early childcare center workers and K through 12 educators are top priority when the vaccine is made available.
