Louisiana Department of Health reports a slight decline in new COVID-19 cases and the number of people in the hospital with COVID.
New cases are down slightly compared to the last three days.
Today’s LDH COVID data shows 9,290 new cases. That is down from yesterday’s more than 31,000 new cases over the three-day New Year’s weekend.
Hospitalizations tripled since Christmas Eve. Today’s data shows hospitalizations increased to 1,226. That is up from yesterday’s 1,106 COVID patients in the hospital.
The number of deaths also climbed slightly, to 17 new deaths, compared to 15 new deaths yesterday. The LDH reports of the 15,018 total COVID deaths in the state, 75% of those who died between Dec. 16 and Dec. 22 were not fully vaccinated.
