The Louisiana Department of Health released the latest numbers on COVID cases in the state, which shows a potential fifth COVID surge is already here.
The LDH reports 2,936 new confirmed cases on Monday.
Ten new COVID deaths are reported bringing the total number of deaths to 14,934.
Hospitalizations remain relatively low with 241 patients in the hospital. Thirty-three of those patients are on ventilators.
The rise in numbers come weeks after the health department reported 100 probable cases of the Omicron variant in Louisiana.
