New Orleans authorities say a long-time eyesore and crime magnet is coming down.
The Orleans Parish District Attorney's Office and other officials have called a news conference today to announce the demolition of the London Lodge motel on Airline Highway near the Jefferson Parish line.
It is among the last of the notorious Airline motels knows for prostituion, drugs and other issues for decades.
The DA's office says, "The demolition marks a critical step toward revitalizing the area and addressing the challenges that have affected residents for years."
The news release from Jason Williams office calls the motel a long-standing source of distress for patrons and residents in the Airline Highway and Hollygrove neighborhoods.
"This pivotal action represents the culmination of a united effort involving multiple jurisdictions and departments, all working together to tackle pressing life safety concerns and restore a sense of security and well-being for the New Orleans community."
