Hang on, another cold snap is about to hit the region. However, if you were hoping for another snow event, you’ll have to keep waiting. National Weather Service meteorologist Hannah Lisney says with most of the region’s precipitation out of the way, it’ll be a dry freeze. “All of our rain is out of here. So, no winter precipitation expected. That’s good or bad news, depending on how you felt about the snow,” Lisney explains.
So, will temperatures even out? Lisney says the cold spell won’t be long-term. “It should be fairly quick. The coldest will be tonight and tomorrow night. After that, temperatures will start to creep backupward,” says Lisney. She also adds that while the next couple of days will bring lower temperatures than we’ve seen in some time, you shouldn’t need to wrap your pipes. She does advise bringing pets inside and covering any plants you may have.
There will be a noted difference in the temperatures on the north and south sides of the lake. “We’re looking at anywhere from 24-25 degrees on the Northshore and they could even get into the range where they see some temperature records broken,” emphasizes Lisney. Again, she does note that there should be no snow or ice conditions as the precipitation in the region has already passed. So, traveling will be cold … but, still possible during the cold snap.
