The 20th Annual Great American Seafood Cookoff is Saturday in New Orleans, and a chef from Monroe will represent the Pelican State.
“We will be doing the cookoff at one end of the convention center. It is a great opportunity for people to come up and see these chefs from all over the country come out and put their foot forward and their best seafood dish,” said Nungesser.
Chef Chase Woodward of Parish Restaurant in Monroe will be competing against thirteen other chefs to see who wins the title of the King or Queen of American Seafood.
Nungesser said he is hoping the title will return to Louisiana.
“Last year it was won by Alabama, so there will be some tough competition to bring that crown back here to Louisiana,” said Nungesser.
And he said the chef from Lainey Wilson’s Nashville restaurant Bell Bottoms Up, Kayla Keys, will also be there.
“We invited her because her restaurant serves only Louisiana seafood. So, we’re real proud of that and Lainey Wilson and what she’s done in her career and so her restaurant will be represented in the show this year,” said Nungesser.
