House Representative Mandie Landry says she's had some good feedback from both sides of the aisle to revise some of the new laws passed during the special legislative session.
“Quite a few of my Republican colleagues say we need to do something about that area [The French Quarter] because everyone is drunk there.”
Landry says many acknowledge nuanced cases around the state that may need special provision.
“Some of the open-air areas like the Quarter or an event like Mardi Gras, with this bill, could pose greater issues for law enforcement.”
Representative Landry says clear definitions are needed to ensure proper enforcement.
“What’s defined as a bar? How many feet from a parade route can one carry a concealed weapon? Some of our laws in place need to be clarified.”
