Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards rolled up both sleeves Wednesday getting a Pfizer COVID booster shot and a flu vaccine in Baton Rouge. Edwards was joined by State Health Officer Dr. Joe Kanter in imploring residents who are eligible for a booster to get one, or if they haven’t taken a shot at all to get their first.

Edwards said if you took Pfizer and it’s been more than six months since your second shot, you’re probably eligible for a third shot. Eligibility for a booster is incredibly broad and seemingly includes most Louisiana adults.
“If you are over 65, or are 18 and older and have a comorbid health condition that makes you more vulnerable to the disease, or if you live or work in a setting that makes you more vulnerable then we encourage you to get your booster as soon as you can,” said Edwards.
Edwards said it’s safe to get both a COVID and flu shot on the same day, and that this is the perfect time to roll in and knock out both jabs.
“If you for some reason have not yet decided to get your COVID vaccine, today is a new day, tomorrow will also be a new day, and you can make the decision to do that, it is incredibly important that you do,” said Edwards.
