As of today, Republicans make up the largest group of registered voters in Louisiana.
That has never happened before.
The Louisiana Secretary of State released new registration numbers this morning.
They show:
- 1,064,496 registered Republicans
- 1,062,135 registered Democrats
- 820,040 No Party registered voters
- 24,634 registered as Other Parties
Despite the state voting overwhelmingly Republican for decades, this is the first time there have actually been more registered Republicans than any other group.
Governor Jeff Landry posted, "Today, Republicans outnumber Democrats in Louisiana for the first time in our state’s history!"
He credits Republican leadership.
