A Lake Charles priest was the victim of a particularly sinful theft, and authorities are asking for help in finding the alleged thief.

The priest’s wallet was stolen while he was conducting Mass at St. Henry Catholic Church in Lake Charles.

Calcasieu Parish Deputies have released a still from surveillance footage of the man they believe entered the church’s sacristy on Sunday, November 20, and swiped the priest’s wallet.

The still-unidentified man then used the priest’s credit/debit card to purchase clothes and fuel at nearby stores.

The theft was featured on a recent Crime Stoppers video.

Authorities are asking anyone with information on the suspect’s identity to call Crime Stoppers at 337-439-2222 or call the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office directly.

If the suspect is arrested and convicted, the tipster could be eligible for a reward.
