Would you believe a small town in Northwest Louisiana is the state’s fastest growing city?

Though it is home to just 557 people total, when it comes to percentages Frierson, La., has experienced the biggest jump since the turn of the century.

Since 2000, Frierson’s population has grown over 1,538%!

That’s a massive lead over their nearest competition: Point A La Hache is up over 417% in the last 23 years.

The ranking seems to show why percentage of increase isn’t generally the best method of showing population growth. Point A La Hache is even smaller than Frierson with a  population of 119.

And 94 people reside in third-place Glotser, whose population is up over 248%.

Triumph and Richwood make up the rest of the top five.

Youngsville, Maurice, Venice, Longstreet and Cankton round out the top 10.
