A Slidell woman is dead after Louisiana State Police following a series of crashes involving her car on Interstate 59.
It happened around 8:20 a.m. Friday on I-59 North just past the Interstate 12 split.
According to state troopers, Destiny Lacoste rear-ended a pickup truck that slowed down to make an illegal left turn onto the interstate crossover. Investigators say Lacoste got out of her car after the crash. That’s when, officials say, another pickup truck struck Lacoste’s car, knocking it into Lacoste.
EMS crews took Lacoste, 26, to an area hospital, where she later died. A child inside Lacoste’s car sustained minor injuries. The drivers of the two pickup trucks were not injured.
The crashes remain under investigation. Troopers say they will submit the findings of their district attorney’s office once the investigation has been completed.
