Some would equate the monumental task of knocking off Nick Saban’s Alabama Crimson Tide to “moving the earth.”
Well, whether or not the LSU Football Tigers exerted such super-heroic power DURING their 32-31 upset victory in Death Valley Saturday night, there’s no question that the LSU faithful in the stands and surrounding area managed exactly such an extraordinary feat to punctuate the most pivotal moments of the Bayou Bengal win.
According to a seismograph monitored by the science department at Louisiana State University, Tiger fans literally shook the ground with their football fervor. Twice.
After Alabama took a 31-24 lead in overtime, LSU got their chance to try and match the score. On their first overtime play, quarterback Jayden Daniels scampered all the way to paydirt with a 25-yard touchdown run, igniting a cheer from the stadium that registered on the seismograph at 10:03pm.
Then, just three minutes later, with the Tigers still trailing by a point 31-30, LSU coach Brian Kelly opted to go for the kill with a two-point conversion rather than playing it safe by kicking a one-point try.
Daniels executed a successful pass to tight end Mason Taylor, who spun and crossed the goal line to put two crucial points on the board and give #10 LSU a 32-31 win over #6 Alabama.
For a second time in just minutes, the LSU seismograph registered the deafening roar of LSU’s fans, who erupted in jubilation as they stormed the field in celebration.
Now ranked #7 in the AP poll and awaiting their new College Football Playoff ranking, LSU will travel to Fayetteville Saturday to face unranked Arkansas.
