Nice going, SEC -- you may have just made Tiger Stadium even louder this season, after threatening to kick LSU out of the conference over the potential signings of two players who were NFL training camp bodies this summer.
When LSU decided to put two injured players in the final two positions on the football roster, instead of Dae'Quan Wright and Zxavian Harris, it was clearly capitulation to the conference, said WWL.com sport columnist Jeff Palermo.
"This is a victory for the SEC," Palermo said, but he notes that while the school and the conference may be willing to forgive and forget, the Fighting Tiger fans are another matter.
"This LSU fan base feels like they are being singled out, like their school is being singled out," said Palermo. "Why wasn't there a lawsuit filed last year when Charles Bediako, who played two seasons in the G-League, came back to Alabama and actually played a half a dozen games for the Crimson Tide on the hard wood -- where was the lawsuit when that happened?"
And Death Valley this season may be an even tougher place for visiting teams.
"There's a chip on (LSU football head coach) Lane Kiffin's shoulder, there's a chip on the player's shoulder, and the fans also, and I think that's probably going to make for an even more fun season than what we were expecting," Palermo said.
