The LSU Tigers return home this weekend, and after some ugly incidents near Tiger Stadium on previous game days, the university has some new rules.

Deputies had to fire pepper balls to break up crowds that got unruly during the Mississippi State Game. LSU President Wade Rouse says this is not what the LSU experience should be about.

"Tailgating is about football!" Rouse said. "I mean, again, we're all here, we're here to celebrate, have a good time, eat some wonderful food, fellowship, see folks we haven't seen, pregame."

So the will now be increased security, and large-scale unauthorized tailgates with deejays or live bands will not be allowed.

"This is, in our mind, a special event. You've got to have a special event permit to have that on campus anyways," said Rouse.

Rouse says they want student tailgates to end an hour before kickoff, and there will also be an emphasis on pedestrian safety, in the wake of a couple being run over and killed last month.
