Despite the fact that LSU’s football team rebounded from a tough Week 1 loss to get their first victory under new coach Brian Kelly, routing Southern in dominant fashion, the action on the field was not what caught people’s attention over the weekend.

Or rather, the football-related action on the field.

Social media concerning the matchup in Death Valley was mostly focused on a fan who took the most casual of strolls out onto the field during active play between the Tigers and Jaguars, surveying the scene unimpeded for a longer amount of time than might be expected for someone standing languidly in the field of play.

Eventually the fan, identified later as LSU student Marwan Okeil, was taken down by security and removed from the stadium, but footage of the incident quickly went viral, racking up over 6 million views on one post from Barstool Sports alone.

Now Okeil has been issued a misdemeanor summons for criminal trespassing and resisting an officer.

As of yet, Okeil has not made any public statements as to why he hopped a fence and made his way out onto the field of play mid-game.
Perhaps his day in court will prove enlightening.
