The latest data form the Louisiana Workforce Commission shows the number of people who filed an unemployment benefit claim this week dropped 582 from last week.
The initial unemployment insurance claims for the week ending April 3, dropped to 12,263 from the week ending March 27, total of 12,845. For a comparison, during the week ending April 4, 102,172 initial claims were filed.
The unemployment insurance claims for the week ending April 3, increased to 46,530 from the week ending March 27, total of 42,546. The continued claims were below the comparable figure of 120,744 for the week ending April 4.
