A 22-year-old man is facing a negligent homicide charge in connection with the shooting death of a man in New Orleans East.
The incident happened Thursday on Shepard Street just off L. B. Landry Avenue.
Police say Anthony Wise was cleaning his gun in a bedroom when the gun accidentally fired, striking the victim in the chest. The victim, identified only as a 22-year-old man, later died at a hospital.
Police arrested Wise on Saturday after obtaining a warrant for his arrest. The case remains under investigation.
