A man and a woman are dead after gunfire this morning in New Orleans East.
"New Orleans Police are investigating a homicide," Sgt. Barry Fletcher said in an email. "Police responded to a residence in the 14700 block of Chef Menteur Highway shortly before 7:30 a.m."
He says officers found an adult male victim and an adult female victim, both suffering from a gunshot wound.
"New Orleans EMS confirmed both victims were deceased on scene."
The NOPD later added, "Homicide detectives were able to determine the incident was an apparent murder/suicide."
