A man died today after being badly burned in a fire Friday night.
"The adult male that was severely burned at the scene of last night’s car fire, at 7821 Spruce St., has succumbed to his injuries," NOFD Captain Edwin Holmes said in a news release.
The 30-year-old man died at the hospital.
Crews discovered the victim after getting called to a car fire near Carrollton and Claiborne.
"Firefighters found a vehicle fully involved in the driveway of the residence," Holmes explained. "While putting out the vehicle fire, firefighters located an adult male near the vehicle with third degree burns to his entire body."
He says the victim was alert and responding when he was transported to the hospital, but ultimately did not survive.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
