A Lafourche Parish man dies in a head-on collision with a Port Fourchon Harbor Police SUV.
A Louisiana State Police spokesperson says it happened on LA Highway 3162 west of LA Highway 1 about 6 a.m. Wednesday morning.
According to LSP Troopers, 50-year-old Benjamin Wood from Cut Off, LA, was driving his 2019 Mitsubishi Mirage west on LA 3162 when for unknown reasons crossed the roadway centerline and crashed into the Harbor Police Chevy Tahoe head-on.
Wood was wearing his seat belt but died in the crash. The driver of the Harbor Police vehicle was not wearing their seatbelt but suffered non-life threatening injures.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation and toxicology results are still pending.
