New Orleans Police search for a suspect wanted for fatally stabbing a man with a machete-like blade weapon.
The stabbing happened Sunday in the 5100 block of St. Claude Avenue.
“At about 1:25 p.m., NOPD Fifth District officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by cutting at the location. Upon arrival, officers located a male subject lying in the parking lot of a business and having sustained a stab wound. The victim was declared deceased at the scene,” says an NOPD report.
Investigaotrs are searching for a vehicle and person of interest in the incident.
Security cameras caught an image of the alleged attacker holding a long blade weapon.
"Victim and suspect were talking when suspect pulled machete out of pants leg and swung it at victim; slicing victim in neck," according to an initial police report.
Police say the vehicle is possibly a 2008 Saturn Vue, with heavy damage to the front drive side quarter panel. Following the incident, the subject and vehicle fled east on St. Claude Avenue.
