Man found murdered in Central City, NOPD investigates


The New Orleans Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting in Central City.

The shooting happened around 9:51 pm on Monday in the 1200 block of South Saratoga Street.

An NOPD report says, “Officers responded to reports of an aggravated battery by shooting at the location. Upon their arrival, officers discovered an adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was transported to the hospital by EMS, where he later died.”

Investigators are in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify who may be responsible for the shooting, as well as a motive.

The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine the official cause of death and release the victim’s name upon completion of an autopsy and the notification of family.
