Man killed in hit-and-run while attempting to cross busy I-10/610 split

Police in New Orleans say a man attempted to run across I-10 when he was hit and killed by a vehicle.

The fatal crash happened last night at about 7:49 p.m. on the interstate near I-10/610 split at the parish line.

When officers arrived they found the man lying unresponsive in the right lane on the interstate.

“Based on preliminary investigation, the male pedestrian was attempting to cross the Interstate when he was struck by an unknown type vehicle driven by an unidentified driver who was traveling westbound,” said an NOPD report. “The vehicle fled the scene after the crash. The victim landed on the Interstate and was struck by an additional vehicle(s) who remained on the scene.”
