The New Orleans Police Department is investigating an armed robber and carjacking that happened on the outer edge of the French Quarter.
It happened at about 5:09 p.m. on Sunday in the 1000 block of Barracks Street near Esplanade Avenue.
Police say a 55-year-old man parked and exited his vehicle when he was approached by a man armed with a gun who demanded the victim hand over his keys, wallet, and cellphone. The victim complied and the suspect fled in the victim’s 2004 silver Jeep Liberty. The investigation is ongoing.
