A man reportedly walking in the roadway of Westbound I-10 near the Norman C. Francis overpass was struck and killed by a driver who also sustained injures and ran off the road.
The incident happened just before 4am.
Arriving police and emergency units shut down the Airline Highway-Carrollton Avenue offramp where the collision occurred.
The female driver of the sedan that struck the victim was taken to the hospital for treatment.
The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will release official identification of the decedent upon completion of autopsy and notification of family. NOPD responded.
