A man is in the St.Tammany Parish Jail after Mandeville police say he tried to break into a house with a large machete.
According to a Mandeville Police Department spokesperson, Derrin Cavalier was caught on a Ring doorbell camera early Monday morning forcefully pushing against the front door of the home in an attempt to gain entry. Police say in addition to the machete, Cavalier had a large wrench and screwdriver on his person while attempting the break-in.
Police later arrested Cavalier without incident. Authorities did not say if his bond has been set.
