Four people are facing drug charges after St. Tammany Parish a traffic stop near Mandeville led to the discovery of more than 2,600 fake prescription pills containing fentanyl.
According to St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office spokesperson Sergeant Suzanne Carboni, deputies arrested Christopher Havers, Layla Brown, and Trinity Conigliaro during the traffic stop. The fourth suspect, Julien Simmons, was arrested following an investigation.
Carboni says deputies were investigating a tip about drug activity near the area of Hoffman Road and Third Street on Thursday when they pulled over the suspects' car. According to Carboni, deputies found the fentanyl pills, two stolen guns, and more than $1,000 in cash when they searched the car. Carboni says the suspects also had a three-month-old infant in the car with them.
Deputies later searched a home where two of the suspects has been living. According to Carboni, deputies discovered more fentanyl pills there as well as a semi-automatic rifle with a drum magazine, THC products, and drug paraphernalia. Carboni says detectives also found a video of Simmons holding down a dog and blowing cannabis smoke in the dog's face.
Havers and Brown are facing various drugs and guns charges. Conigliaro is facing two drug possession counts. Simmons is facing three drugs charges and an additional cruelty to animals count.
