Mardi Gras 2022 will happen says N.O. spokesperson
The city of New Orleans is giving the green light to Mardi Gras.
Mayoral spokesman Beau Tidwell says New Orleans is opening its arms and welcoming the world back for the upcoming Carnival season.
“Mardi Gras 2022 is happening, barring some completely catastrophic change in the numbers, Mardi Gras is happening,” said Tidwell at a press conference on Tuesday.
He says the requirement that people show proof of vaccination or a recent COVID test to enter bars, restaurants, and venues will remain in place through the spring which includes the Mardi Gras season.
“We want people to come and we want people to be safe that hopefully means hopefully being vaccinated,” said Tidwell. “Specifically, you are still required to show proof of vaccination or a negative test to do anything fun.”
Meanwhile, the health department says the trial run at the Krewe of Boo parade showed NO spike in COVID spread.
