New Orleans Mayor Helena Moreno says the city is forecast to add thousands of jobs by next summer.
The mayor says a lot of new businesses have been opening up.
"Business permits in the city of New Orleans: we have issued as many business permits so far this year as we did in all of 2024 and 2025 combined," Moreno said.
A lot of that new growth, said Moreno, is happening in New Orleans East.
"Sicona, the battery company, decided they wanted a headquarters in New Orleans East, and then, of course, the new V/A wellness facility, that's an $80 million project in New Orleans East," said Moreno, "Textron, also saying that they want to expand what they're doing in New Orleans East as well."
