Organizers of the St. Patrick's Parade of Jefferson have banned some of the riders who took part in Sunday's parade after video of them allegedly making Nazi salutes surfaced online.

Our partners at NOLA.com say the parade's committee board issued a public apology for the incident, noting that the rider's actions violated both parade rules and parish ordinance. The parade's chief administrative officer, Brian Hebert, told the newspaper that the riders were all minors. Hebert also declined to say how many riders in all were banned.

Parish President Cynthia Lee Sheng said in a statement issued on Sunday that "we do not tolerate hate" and that the parish would conduct an investigation into the incident. The parade committee board issued its own statement, in which it said it "(views) these actions as unacceptable and contrary to our goals of staging a family friend event that may be enjoyed by all members of our community."
