It began on February 13th when parish Sheriffs were dispatched to a home off Buddy Ellis Road in Denham Springs.
Sheriff Jason Ard says, ‘We learned then that a juvenile female – through a popular multimedia messaging app – was communicating with a 47-year old male. The 47-year old male – identified as Darrel Lee of Zachary – arranged to meet the juvenile. Thankfully, the juvenile’s family suspected something was not quite right and contacted us to investigate.”
The Sheriff says Lee made his way to the juvenile’s home, but was not able to complete the rendezvous.
Instead he was arrested by Livingston Parish Sheriffs and booked into the detention center on a pair of charges:
Indecent behavior with a juvenile and Computer-aided solicitation with a minor.
Bail was set at $75,000.
But the story doesn’t end there, and neither does the growing list of charges.
A forensic search of Lee’s phone and other electronic devices yielded more evidence of Lee’s activities.
He is now facing seven counts of indecent behavior with a juvenile and two counts of possessing child pornography.
Zachary Police Chief David McDavid stated, “Protecting our children is our number one goal. When law enforcement partners work together, as we did in this case, we were able to do just that.”
