Polls open for early voting Friday in the Louisiana party primary runoffs for U.S. Senate and House.
Runoffs often don't get as much turnout as primaries, and Lapolitics publisher and editor Jeremy Alford says this one will not be an exception.
"You know it's a big cliché, but it's all about who's able to turn out their voters for what is going to be somewhat of a low interest election," said Alford.
Alford said that's why Julia Letlow, leading in most polling, continues to hit at her opponent John Fleming.
He says turnout for the Republican senate race may suffer from the defeat of incumbent Bill Cassidy last month -- with that accomplished, Republicans don't have as much reason to vote.
"That election had just as much to do about Donald Trump as it did Bill Cassidy," said Alford, "so headed into this runoff, if that continues to be true, I think all eyes and ears are on Julia Letlow, the president's chosen candidate."
And Alford says out-of-state money aligned with the president's interests continues to pour into the race, with ads either supporting Letlow or attacking Fleming.
The ballot also includes BESE and Public Service Commission races in some parishes. Others have local races or issues.
