The body of a man who went missing near Houma has been found.
According to the United States Coast Guard, Terrebonne Parish sheriff's deputies found the man's body Saturday morning. The discovery came a few hours after the Coast Guard suspended its search for the 59-year-old man who went missing on Thursday near mile marker 21 of the Houma Navigation Canal.
Investigators say the man was not wearing a life jacket.
According to Coast Guard officials, rescue crew searched for the man for more than 24 hours over more than 50 square miles. The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries and the Grand Caillou Fire Department also assisted with the search.
