Jail records show Nathan Diaz was booked into the Orleans Justice Center this morning.

The 38-year-old mixed martial arts fighter faces a charge of second degree battery.

Police say video shows Diaz choking a man until he loses consciousness, then dropping the man on Bourbon Street last weekend.

The MMA fighter's representative says Diaz voluntarily turned himself in.

Zach Rosenfield said, "We continue to look forward to presenting all the evidence and videos that show Nate was acting in self-defense."

Diaz was reportedly in town to watch his teammate Chris Avila in a fight.

Witnesses said the victim looked like social media influencer-turned-boxer/WWE star Logan Paul.  He was later identified as Rodney Peterson.

In an odd twist, Diaz’s is scheduled to fight Logal Paul's brother Jake Paul, in Dallas on August 5.

NOPD released the following statement:

"Nathan Diaz (white male, DOB: 04-16-1985) arrived at the NOPD’s Sixth District station this morning (April 27, 2023) in the presence of his attorney and surrendered to police on an arrest warrant for a charge of second-degree battery. Diaz was transported to the Orleans Parish Justice Center and booked accordingly. He remains in the custody of the Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office pending an initial court appearance."
