A St. Tammany Parish mom is upset that her daughter was told to remove her facemask and wear a disposable while at school or face an in-house suspension because her other mask featured the words "Black Lives Matter."
WWL-TV reports Ebony Wright argues the school was wrong to make her daughter take off the mask.
The St. Tammany Public Schools guidelines on masks for the coronavirus pandemic says masks can have monograms or school logos, but "ever should be such that they represent a collective or individual protest."
Wright tells the TV station that her children are not protesting by wearing the "Black Lives Matter" message, but instead are celebrating who they are.
