The Moreno Administration will soon force New Orleans city employees to take pay cuts or furloughs to help the city mitigate its ongoing budget crisis.
Our partners at WWL-TV, citing a memo sent to city workers, reports that those furloughs and pay cuts will begin on February 15 will continue through the end of 2026 unless the city's finances improve sooner.
According to the memo, classified employees and hourly unclassified workers must take 22 unpaid furlough days during the year. Unclassified salaried employees will not be subject to the furloughs, but those workers will take a ten-percent pay cut during the same period.
