Morning Call, the iconic New Orleans coffee and beignet destination comes one more step closer to reopening at its’ new location.
On Thursday the recognizable coffee mug neon sign was mounted outside the shops’ new Canal and City Park Avenue home.
Morning Call has been working on reopening after it closed its Metairie location and lost its lease on the City Park location to rival beignet shop, Cafe Du Monde.
Now, the shop comes closer to once again serving up its coffee and treats when it reopens sometime in February.
“We have the iconic arch, the (marble) counters, the tables from the other location and we're going to do things the old-fashioned way,” Morning Call owner, Bob Hennessey told WWLTV.
“We still do the French-drip coffee,” he said. “Our sourdough beignets, in my opinion, are the best,” he says.
Hennessey says when he reopens he hopes to return to the shop’s 24/7 operations and possibly another location in the future.
