Blaine “Mr. Mardi Gras” Kern, founder of Carnival float builders Kern Studios, will be forever memorialized at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida.
His name will be inscribed in gold script on the window of a storefront façade overlooking Universal’s Hollywood Blvd.
The second-story windows on of the faux store fronts at Universal Studios pay tribute to the behind-the-scene
Senior Vice President Entertainment at Universal Studios, Jim Timon, made the announcement to Kern’s widow, Holly Kern.
“This window, on the Pantages Theatre façade, overlooks our parade step-off location,” said Timon in a letter to Kern’s widow. “Mr. Mardi Gras will oversee the step-off of the Universal Mardi Gras parade for many, many years to come.”
