While snow plows hired by the city of New Orleans and state of Louisiana cleared all lanes of I-10 and the Pontchartrain and Westbank Expressways, allowing the highway to finally reopen Friday afternoon, patches of slush and piles of snow pushed to the side of the shoulder may still be making for a difficult commute.
In New Orleans East, a wreck Saturday morning on I-10 headed toward downtown closed the interstate near Read Blvd.
Traffic also backed up on I-10 over the Carrollton overpass due to a multi-vehicle crash Saturday.
It happened on the down-side of the overpass, headed from New Orleans toward Metairie.
Another crash on the Westbank Expressway Saturday morning near Terry Parkway blocked multiple lanes headed from the Crescent City Connection towards Gretna.
Highway officials closed the expressway after freezing lows overnight caused ice to form on parts of the roadway.
