Gunfire claimed a life in the 500 block Bienville Street Sunday evening.
"The NOPD is investigating an Homicide by shooting," Detective James Roberson said in an email. "Initial information shows one victim sustained at least one gun shot wound to the body."
New Orleans EMS pronounced the victim dead on the scene near Decatur Street.
It happened just after 8:30pm.
Roberson says they caught one person.
"One suspect has been detained for further questioning in relation to this event."
