A New Orleans bank teller pleads guilty to stealing nearly $350,000 from an elderly customer.
According to federal prosecutors, 35-year-old Karen Farrell Tigler worked at a Hancock Whitney Bank branch in New Orleans from 2013 to 2016. During that time the Department of Justice says she used more than 100 checks from the account of a woman in her mid-80s who was a customer at the bank.
They say Tigler embezzled $73,924 using 21 different bank counter checks to withdraw the money from her account and another 79 bank counter checks to withdraw $275,632 from the victim, in total, Tigler admitted to stealing $349,556 says the DOJ. A judge set Tigler’s sentencing for August.
