The NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament is now under way, and that means casinos in Louisiana and around the United States will see an uptick in sports betting.
According to the American Gaming Association, Americans will bet $3.3 billion on the NCAA Division I men's and women's basketball tournaments this year. That, the association says, is a 54-percent jump over the last three years.
If history is any indication, Louisiana sports bettors will spend their fair share of cash.
According to Louisiana State Police records, basketball betting generated more wagers than any other individual sport over the last four years, with bettors spending more than $133 million on basketball wagers. By comparison, football bets raked in $119 million between 2022 and 2025.
