Hurricane Zeta hit St. Tammany Parish hard. Nearly 78,000 residents in the parish are without power after the storm toppled trees and snapped utility poles across the parish.
St. Tammany Parish President Mike Cooper says linemen with Cleco and Entergy are working as quickly as possible to restore power.
“But it is not going to be a matter of hours, it is going to be a matter of days, not just because of St Tammany but because of the entire New Orleans region in regards to restoring power,” said Cooper.
Cooper urges parish resident to report any Hurricane Zeta damage they have experienced to the St. Tammany Parish Code Enforcement so the parish can submit the cost of the damages to FEMA.
“We want people to know if they have experienced any damage to their homes whether it be from wind, or flood, or water, damage to please report it to our code enforcement,” said Cooper. “They are documenting damage from call-ins and emails but also they will be out in the field recording damages so that we can reach a threshold to receive help form FEMA.”
Residents can call the St. Tammany Parish Code Enforcement at (985) 898-5214 or they can email them at email@example.com.
